    Fraud Advisory

From the Office of Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott

Protecting Your Home and Car from Burglars

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office advises to keep doors, including the garage door, locked at all times - even when you are home or working in the yard.  Also close and lock first floor windows at night and whenever you are gone. To protect your car from theft and burglary, always lock your car, and don’t keep purses, checkbooks, briefcases, laptops, etc. in plain view.  The Lee County Sheriff’s Office also suggests carrying your registration and insurance card in your wallet rather than in the car – thieves steal garage door openers and keys from cars then use addresses on registrations to burglarize homes.
