The Alpha Course at Faith United Methodist Church
What is Alpha?
The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith. It is relaxed, non-threatening, low key, friendly, and fun. There is a meal together at the beginning of each session which gives you an opportunity to get to know each other. Listen, learn, discuss and discover. And ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile. The Alpha Course runs ten weeks and consists of a series of talks looking at topics such as "Who is Jesus?" and "Why and how do I pray?" after each talk, we divide into small groups for a time of discussion. Alpha is for everyone, especially those wanting to investigate Christianity, new Christians, newcomers to the church, and those who want to brush up on the basics.
Pat & Joyce Dolby are enthusiastic about the Alpha Course and attended the Alpha Training Conference in the Chicago area, led by Nicky Gumble himself, last April. You will enjoy their leadership and experience in the Alpha program. Information about the Alpha Course is found in the Narthex along with the sign-up sheet. Sign up early! There is no direct cost for the Alpha course, although a contribution of $3.79 is suggested for the course materials.
